0.6.x does includedir=/usr/include and passes that using -I to gcc. As you might imagine
/usr/include is not the same archictecture as I'm cross-compiling for. in OE we make gcc
ICE if it finds such bogus include paths.

Yes, but debian doesn't cross-compile, so all sorts of nastiness get ignored. Wookey had
quite a bit to say about that in his emdebian talk in debconf.fi
