Hi,

I can't compile (configure) gpe packages native on a Debian 3.1 platform.

I think I may still be missing some packages. Or I have to set some
environment variables.
Could you please have a look below? Maybe you see what I'm
doing wrong.

I was following the steps on:
http://gpe.linuxtogo.org/download.phtml

I guess I'm using gpe version 8959 (from svn status -v).

These are the packages I tried to configure and the problems I
encountered.

/base/libgpewidget
===================
atogen.sh
no need for patching file 'Makefile.in.in'
automake: Makefile.am: required file `./NEWS' not found
automake: Makefile.am: required file `./README' not found
automake: Makefile.am: required file `./AUTHORS' not found

./configure
...
checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes
./configure: line 1723: dist-bzip2: command not found
checking for working aclocal-1.4... found
...
checking pkg-config is at least version 0.9.0... yes
./configure: line 21367: syntax error near unexpected token `1.2'
./configure: line 21367: `GTK_DOC_CHECK(1.2)'

base/gpe-hello
==============
./autogen.sh
no need for patching file 'Makefile.in.in'
Makefile.am:9: variable `desktop_DATA' not defined
autoreconf: automake failed with exit status: 1

libgtkinputs
============
./configure
checking for INPUT_LIBS...
configure: error: Package requirements (gtk+-2.0) were not met.
Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively you may set the INPUT_CFLAGS and INPUT_LIBS environment
variablesto avoid the need to call pkg-config. See the pkg-config man
page for
more details.

Cheers
Michael
