My last several PDAs have all followed essentially the same sequence to import
a vcard file into a category:

1. Display category
2. import vcard file

gpe-contacts seems to be missing this basic PIM functionality. One should be
able to follow the above procedure (or something similar, such as a "import to
which categories?" dialogue box when importing a vcard file) to import contacts
into gpe-contacts.

(The only workaround I have been able to find involves browsing the raw
structure of the categories database, and editing the vcard file before
importing it.)
