[Gpe-list] Trademark issues, IMPORTANT!

Hello dear GPE developers and users!

It came to our attantion that George France from handhelds.org has,
without prior notice to anyone, filed trademarks for the names
	GPE
	OPIE
	IPKG

on the 6th of March 2007 at the Unitedt States patent office.

We still do not know what his intention is. It might be a good one to
protect the projects from trademark issues. But it also might be to get
more influence on the projects.
But since he did not contact any of the aforementioned projects *before*
registering I fear not for good. I asked George for a statement.

But I will definitely never write anywhere "GPE, a community project,
trademark by George France".
This will NEVER happen.

We are going to investigate this and ask a patent attorney about it,
stay tuned.

I am sorry for this bad news...
