I have added multiple calendar support to gpesyncd and to OpenSync.  The
OpenSync support is only in 0.3X (trunk).

The implmentation is to allow a single calendar to be (optionally) specified
during the sync.  If it is specified, then only that calendar is visible
(events are only taken from GPE from that calendar and new events are added in
to that calendar).  

If it is not specified then the sync works in the same way as today: all events
are visible and new events are put in the default calendar.
