This change is now available in the chinook daily build repository (it is
available in versions dated 31st December 2007 or later).
If anyone can try it and let us know whether it fixes the problem (either by
email or by a comment in this bug entry), that would be useful.

Version 20071231-1 still goes boom. From gpe-todo, I go to Edit Categories from
the menu, and either "new" or "edit" on an existing category (now that I have
them) brings me without delay to back to the home screen. As mentioned before,
now that I know how to brute-force categories with sqlite, this is no longer a
show-stopper for me, although it might be for others not starting from an
existing installation.

To: gpe-bugs at linuxtogo.org
Message-ID: <bug-141-7 at http.bugs.linuxtogo.org/>

Summary: GPE-Calendar feature request: editing/deleting recurring
events should provide the option to change for that
instance or for following instances
Product: gpe-calendar
Version: 0.91
Platform: Nokia 770
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: default
AssignedTo: gpe-bugs at linuxtogo.org
ReportedBy: erik--maemo at nygren.org
Estimated Hours: 0.0
When editing/deleting a recurring event, it should be possible to specify that
the change is to all instances, to only that one occurrence, or to all
following occurrence. For deletes this works for the single instance
case, but not for following case.
One implementation approach:
* For deleting "this and following" events, the end-date of the recurrence
would be moved to be prior to the selected occurrence.
* For editing "just this one", set that occurrence as deleted
and create a new non-recurring event to replace that occurrence.
* For editing "this and following", set the end-date of the recurrence
to be prior to the selected occurrence and then create a new
recurring event copy that starts at this point.
* For the above, delete/copy should presumably take place after
the user clicks "Ok" on an edit (ie, it shouldn't split up
the event if they cancel).
This is one of the largest usability gaps between GPE-Calendar
and Palm's DateBk3 and is preventing me from considering making
the switch.
