Actually, I object. :-)

Using the hardware up- and down-keys there is no problem selecting an item in a
Hildon environment. So my suggestion is to actually fix it so that works as
intended, instead of removing it. I?d be happy do do it, since I am planning
to add some other keyboard shortcuts, see bug 190.  

Are you saying it works on other platforms?

Additional keyboard short cuts I am planning to add:

Ctrl-N to creaate new todo.
Enter or center button on Hildon to edit selected item.
Delete to delete selected item.
Left/Right buttons to cycle complete status of selected item.
