gpe-contacts import function should accept files with <CR><LF> line endings.
It would be nice if gpesyncd could as well.
This requires checking to make sure that a <CR> at the end of the line cannot
be valid.

Some systems (particularly Palm) generate vCard files which contain names with
8-bit characters without encoding them in UTF-8.
Importing those cards would improve Palm compatibility.
There is probably a similar issue for gpe-calendar import.

Error reports for bad characters should display the whole line (or field) in
order to help people deal with large files containing a few errors.

In particular, using gpesyncd to import over 700 entries into an empty database
means that the next time gpe-contacts is started it takes several minutes
before it brings up the display.
Other performance problems may also be present.

Implemented for the interactive mode (not for remote mode or daemon mode but
these are only used by the OpenSync GPE plugin).

This works with gpe-contacts. gpesyncd does not tolerate DOS line endings but
that seem unnecessary to fix as gpe-contacts supports them.

The import does handle DOS files. But the gpe-calendar -i command does nothing
(import from the menu works but not import from the command line).

the parsing does not always work on the name field; it would be better to just
store names separately.
eg. enter a new contact. Type in the name as:
Bob, Sue & Al Smith
this is stored as Last = Bob and First = Sue & Al Smith
Next, create another, and enter:
Bob & Sue Smith
stored as Last = Smith, First = Bob & Sue
I see the logic but it's not intuitive.
Another side effect:
Bob van Gogh would be stored under "G"

The following two lines on import:
ADR;HOME:;;1234-99th Avenue;Lachine;Qu?bec;H8T 9ZZ
LABEL;HOME;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:1234-99th Avenue=0D=0ALachine, Qu=E9bec
H8T 9ZZ
Result in an address displayed with Quebec on the line above Lachine.
But when exported (using gpesyncd), it appears as:
LABEL;TYPE=home:1234-99th Avenue\nQu??bec\nLachine\nH8T 9ZZ
This has:
1) The mangled layout
2) No ADR line at all
3) A colon instead of a semicolon after TYPE=home (not sure which is correct)
Note: the conversion to UTF-8 is not a bug.
