I have no objection to leaving this bug open if it applies to GPE. But I fail
to see, and would welcome an explanation, of what GPE could do to close this
bug.
I don't believe GPE has it's own keyboard app (and writing one would be a waste
of resources as matchbox/X seem to provide this functionality and it would be
upto the distribution to choose what keyboard they want to use anyway).
Maybe a special character input screen? But this does sound more like something
that should be integrated into the keyboard app itself.
Alternatively maybe an app to check what keyboard keymaps are available and
change them easily? (I'm not sure how easy this would be to implement as it
depends on how many keyboard apps it needs to support and how standard the
keymap changing mechanisms are, something that would have to be looked into)
Either way a clear indication of what you believe would be needed to fix this
issue would help. Currently I am in a muddle as to what is expected of GPE in
order to fix this, that wouldn't be better suited to being fixed at the
distribution or matchbox/X level.
