Well, I just debootstrapped it to /mnt/nandflash2, using a debian
on an sd-card.
In your case you might try that first:
debootstrap an sd-card, make the first partition an ext3 with
small inodes (-I 128), and press F2 when booting the device.
If I read the code correct, it will then use the first partition
of the sd card as the rootfs.
If that kind of works ok, you can either copy it to
/mnt/nandflash2, or debootstrap that again.
Then flash the uImage what's on:
http://projects.kwaak.net/twiki/bin/view/Epc700/KernelOfTheWeek
and use F3 to use nandflash2 as the rootfs.
If that works, you can flash uimage-nandflash2 to make it the
default. The other partition will then be free for normal use.
